The Washington Naval Treaty, or The Five-Power Treaty was a treaty signed at the Washington Naval Conference in 1922. It was signed by the five major countries of that time, the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Italy and Japan. The treaty was created to prevent an arms race by limiting naval construction.
