The Treaty of Versailles was signed by the allied powers and Germany after WW1. Germany was forced to sign this treaty which limited Germany's military to 100,000 men and 6 battleships.
Causes
The first cause of the Treaty of Versailles was Britain and France wanting large reparations from Germany for the lose of equipment and infrastructure.
The second cause of the treaty of Versailles was the allied powers wanted Germany's army to be very small so that they couldn't attack them. Germany could only have 100,000 men and 6 battleships. They could also not moves troops into the Rhineland.
Effects
The first effect of the Treaty was that Germany had to pay Britain and France 5 billion dollars in reparations.
The second effect of the Treaty was that Germany had to give land to France which was called Alsace-Loraine.
