Benito Mussolini was an Italian political figure who from 1925 till 1945 was Italy's fascist dictator. He first stood in the general election to be the Fascist candidate but lost the election in a Socialist sweep. A few days later Mussolini was arrested for supposedly gathering arms to overturn the government; he was released the next day with no charges filed. In 1921, King Victor Emmanuel lll demolished Parliament which started growing chaos and violence. The elections brought in a massive win for the Fascists and Mussolini took a seat as a deputy in Parliament. So, in 1922 Benito Mussolini became the Prime Minister of Italy and three years later (1925) became the fascist dictator of Italy.
