Colored Normal School of Quindaro for teachers was founded in 1872 by the Kansas State Legislature. The school was part of Freedman's University, appropriated by state funds in the sum $2000 for the school's operation. Charles Langston, Rev. Eben & Jane Blachly were the instructors responsible for teaching 83 students.
