The cotton gin is a machine invented by Eli Whitney and James Hoxworth in 1793 to mechanize the production of cotton fiber. The machine separates the cotton fibers from the seedpods and sometimes sticky seeds in an efficient way. Because of the cotton gin and how efficient it is that means there is more cotton for the slaves and more slave labor.
