Douglas MacArthur had a plan to get invaders out of South Korea. He launched a surprise attack in the city of Ichon on September 15. By the end of the month, the North Koreans had gone north of the 38th parallel (into China.) At this time, the United States had to decide to end the war or punish the communist invaders. They decided to attack.
