The Ottawa Charter’s framework for healthpromotion involves enabling people to increase
control over their health, a process in which
individuals, communities, health professionals
and institutions, and governments all have a role. It recognizes that health cannot be separated from people’s daily reality and the social and economic determinants of health, such as access to money, power and esteem.
