The Monroe Doctrine was a doctrine issued by President James Monroe. The doctrines main purposes was to let other countries know they would not be interfering with affairs regarding other European powers, that the Western Hemisphere was fully colonized, that the existing Western Colonies in the West were not to be messed with, and that any attempt of any European power to try to command any of the nations in the Western colonized areas would be a hostile act towards the United States. This doctrine was highly effective and had a lasting impact on the US policies up to recent days.
