The gladiator games did bring a large audience to watch them but poorly treated the gladiators, themselves. The riots had not been a good thing as they were destroying things and harming others. Specific events that happened because of the gladiator games are in 73 BC, the gladiator Spartacus, caused a slave revolt/rebellion that caused contributed to Rome falling due to the need to suppress the uprising at the time.
