Arthur started thinking about one of Wegener's ideas. The one that states that mantle undergoes thermal convection. He introduced that this convection could be like a "conveyer belt" and all of the pressure would split up a continent. Then it would make part of the continent that split apart go in the other direction, moved by the convection currents. This relates to tectonic plates because the convection currents are causing the plates to break apart, move, and collide into other plates.
