Neumann is a Hungarian-American mathematician, physicist, computer scientist. He made major contributions in the breakthrough of the use of memory in digital computers to store both sequences of instructions and data. Neumann undertook a study of computation that demonstrated that a computer could have a simple, fixed structure, yet be able to execute any kind of computation given properly programmed control without the need for hardware modification. He also published “Theory of Games and Economic Behavior” in 1944 which detailed a groundbreaking mathematical theory of economic and social organization, based on a theory of games of strategy.
