The amnion, yolk sac, allantois, and the chorion are formed to protect the growing embryo. The inner cell mass forms into two cell layers, with an amniotic cavity between it and the trophoblast. The epiblast (upper the layer of disc) forms into a sac referred to as the amnion sac.
