9 nov 1989 año - Fall of the Berlin Wall
Descripción:
The Fall of the Berlin Wall was the most important event of the Cold War, as it marked the end of years of conflict when the announcement was made that the border would be open to anyone on November 9th. Excited, West and East Germans had gathered around the walls, to the surprise of many guards who did not know what to do. Apparently, this announcement was made in mistake, and that this was all a bureaucratic error. However, the German people were all gathered up and would not take no as an answer. This is why, on the night of November 9th, 1989, the border crossing commander yielded. The border was open with little to no identity checking, and the people of East Germany were met with flowers and champagne on the other side. The Iron Curtain had fallen, and the night was filled with drinking, partying, and most imporantly - unity.
