During the siege of Bexar Erastus “Deaf” Smith told the Texans that a Mexican cavalry had a lot of animals with them.They started to believe that there might be gold with the horses. Burleson ordered Jame Bowie and forty calvary men to stop there progress. A hundred infantry men followed with Willam H. Jack. They began to skirmish. When reinforcements came for the Texans they won the skirmish.When Texans brought in the forty horses they found out it was only grass they were carrying.
