The battle of San Jacinto was on April 21, 1836. Sam Houston was the commander at the battle. Santa Anna lead the Mexican army. Juan Seguin was one of the only Tjanos on the Texan side that fought. He passed out playing cards to the Tejanos so that they wouldn't get shot by the Texan army. Deaf Smith was sent to burn Vince's bridge so that the Mexicans couldn't get reinforcements. The Texan troops who arrived at San Jacinto before the Mexicans. After the Mexicans arrived the two exchanged shots for a little while. The Mexican army camped along the San Jacinto river while the Texans camped just across a ridge. The Mexicans decided to rest and take a nap. While they were taking a nap the Texans attacked them. During the battle, the Texans cried, “Rember Goliad” and “Rember the Alamo!” The battle lasted for 18 minutes. The Texans won the battle and had captured Santa Anna. In the end, less than 10 Texans died and around 630 Mexican soldiers died.
