The British army was confronted by 77 American militiamen and they began shooting at each other. The militiamen managed to stop the British at Concord and continued to hurt them on their retreat back to Boston. The deadly encounter proved to the British that the colonists were a fearsome group who had been underrated. It was just the start to America’s war of independence.
