The settlers from the United States who wanted to settle west under the "non-colonization act" they believed in the same ideals at the United States of America, however the American government said that no entity west of the Mississippi could fly the same flag as the united states. Understanding these rules the Republic of Texas was formed, they sought to be similar to the United States government however they did not agree of the settlers laws and based their laws on settling west.
