20 mar 1852 año - Uncle Tom's Cabin published

Descripción:

As Abraham Lincoln said, Uncle Tom’s Cabin was “the book that started this great war.” The novel, written by Harriet Beecher Stowe, depicted slavery in its true form, and converted thousands to abolitionism. The novel, which sold 300,000 copies across the U.S. in its first year published, is among the most influential books ever written. Considering this, it can reasonably be determined that it rallied enough sympathy towards the slaves that a war was necessary to settle the matter.
