Britain could not stand aside so they sent out an ultimatum to Germany. The crowds of people waiting anxiously on the streets as they waited for a reply from Germany. Britain would be blamed for all the terrible things that would happen afterwards, the ambassador of Germany quoted but Britain replied back it was their honour to protect Belgium and their neutrality.
