11 abr 1968 año - Civil Rights Act of 1968

Descripción:

The Civil Rights Act of 1968 expanded upon the rights already bestowed in 1964. It continued to prohibit housing discrimination. This Act was passed shortly after Dr. King was assassinated. President Johnson was also responsible for this act, and was crucial in the timeline of its passage. The bill passed in both the House and the Senate in Washington D.C. The speed of this bill was truly spurred on by the support of Johnson as well as the death of Dr. King. The government wanted to show its support for the principles that Martin Luther King Jr. stood for. This Act further expanded rights for minorities and brought the African-American population another step closer to equality.
