This Edict continued the religious aspects of the Edict of Nantes but the military and political terms were changed.

The Huguenot military organisations was to be dismantled and their forts destroyed. No more state funding would go towards protestant garrisons or teaching their clergy.

This meant that the Huguenot state within a state was finished, and Henry IV has always intended for Nantes to be temporary. The Huguenots still had their churches but their military and political power was destroyed.
