Descripción:

Read Fleming's article on penicillin and applied to the British government for money and received £25 - not nearly enough.
They managed to grow enough to test on eight mice. Then tried to grow enough to test on a human (needed 3000x the amount).
A 43 year old Policeman, Albert Alexander, had been scratched by a rose bush and developed an infection, he was injected for 5 days with penicillin and began to clear up, but the drug ran out and he died.
Went to America for money to try and mass produce, by 1843 enough had been made to treat 1000 wounded soldiers and by 1944 there was enough to treat 40,000.
The pharmaceutical industry had begun.
If not for penicillin about 15% of wounded soldiers would have died and thousands more were able to return to the battle faster with this lifesaving drug.
