20 jul 1944 año - July Bomb Plot

On July 20th 1944, a group of senior army officers plotted and attempted to assassinate Hitler as they though Hitler would be the reason they would lose the war. The bomb exploded but due to unforeseeable events, Hitler survived. The plotters also attempted to take over Berlin. The leader on the plot (von Stauffenberg) was killed by other plotters before he could give others up. This plot led to another 5000 executions.
After this attempt, support for Hitler actually increased because it supported the "Hitler Myth" as he had survived an explosion.
