JCR Licklider was the one to invent this idea. He wanted to make it where people around the world could all be connected with processing programs and data from any site they wanted. others also thought it was a good idea for people to be able to save the websites data, for later use. As long as you had some sort of electronic device like computer, it didnt cost you, since it was already on the computer.
