Descripción:
Adam and his woman have not yet had any children yet. Lucifer either takes the physical form of a snake, or he possesses one. Either way, he appears to the woman in the Garden of Eden and says "Did God really say that you can't eat from any tree in the garden?"
She knows what God said, even though she heard it second hand from Adam. She replies with the correct answer:
"We can eat from any tree in the garden, but not from the one that gives knowledge of good and evil, not even to touch it, or else we're guaranteed to die."
The snake uses this opportunity to lie to her, with the effect that it causes doubt about the consequences of disobeying God's command, which would break her relationship with Him.
The snake says "You won't really die! God said that because He knows that if you eat it, you'll become like Him, knowing the difference between good and evil..."
She looks at the fruit of this particular tree. She thinks the consequences won't apply to her. The fruit looks tasty, and she's probably curious as to how it tastes, because she hasn't that kind of fruit before. And she is tempted by the concept of becoming equal to God on some level - gaining a higher form of wisdom that she doesn't have. She is being led by her flesh, instead of trusting the authority and headship of her husband. She eats from the fruit, and nothing happens as of yet.
Adam is presumably not far away when all this goes down, because there is no mention of him trying to stop the whole thing from happening, and the text says that he was with her at the time. She tempts him, and he gives in. Interestingly, it's not until Adam has also eaten from the fruit that all of a sudden they understand the concept of nakedness, and realise that they are both naked, and are embarrassed. The "wisdom" they desired has now come to them, but at a terrible price. They make garments from fig leaves to cover their shame, but God knows what has happened.
God calls out to him, "where are you", even though He knows. He's giving Adam an opportunity to take responsibility for and confess his sin. But instead, Adam appears to shift the blame onto his woman, maybe even trying to indirectly blame God, since God is the one who gave her to him.
God deals out the consequences of their sin but calling judgement onto Adam, his wife and the snake, each in turn. In His curse to the snake, He speaks of a Man to come, the Seed of the Woman, who will ultimately defeat the snake, even though the snake manages to get a strike onto Him (Gen 3:15). The hope of humanity to be restored to relationship with God hangs on this future Seed of the Woman.
God shows Adam and his wife up close and personal what death looks like. He kills an animal or two, and makes garments for them to cover the shame of their nakedness, because their makeshift fig garments aren't good enough. It takes the shedding of blood to cover human sin so that they can come close to God. Our sin deserves death, so blood most be shed to have intimacy with God, now that sin is in the world.
The implications of Adams sin extend to everything under his responsibility and rule: animals now begin to eat each other, God curses the ground so that it produces thorns and thistles, which were not a part of His original perfect creation. Now humans will eventually die because of sin, or else we would live forever in our sinful state, and never have relief from our sin. But more importantly, because our sin would be before a perfect, holy God for all time, which He cannot tolerate.
Creatures now suffer mutation over time, which gives rise to new species, but also to disease and depraving of our flesh. Our bodies are now corrupted.
Soon after this, God banishes them from the Garden of Eden, His temple on earth, and places a guardian cherub in the entrance with a flaming sword to destroy anyone who tries to enter. Adam now has to work hard in agriculture to make his own food as part of his punishment. Adam names his wife Eve.
