It was inspired by many years of influential thinking and continues to e extremely important to the American government.Federalist leaders supported the constitution because they believed that the constitution would give the government the power to protect the rights of its citizens. Meanwhile, the anti-federalists opposed the constitution because they believed that it gave too much power to the government.
