This milestone happened around the age of 3 it was the first time that I ever spoke in Vietnamese and my first word was Thank You. I learned Vietnamese from my nanny always speaking to me in only Viet and also playing shows for me that were not in English, this helped me adapt to certain words and catch on to the actions with those words. Lev Vygotsky's theory that language is learned through social interactions relates to how I learned how to speak Vietnamese. My nanny would always talk to me and read to me in Vietnamese which help to develop me understanding of the language. This milestone is on my timeline because it is very important to me. I grew up in a society that spoke mostly English and to learn something that is from my culture was very important and meaningful to me.
