Descripción:
The Fugitive Slave Law/Act was passed by the United States Congress, as part of the Compromise of 1850 between Southern slave-holding interests and Northern abolitionists. These were federal laws that allowed for the capture and return of runaway slaves within the territory of the United States. The act was nicknamed the "Bloodhound Law" for the dogs that were used to track down runaway slaves that had escaped into free states.
