The printing press was invented by Johannes Gutenburg. This allowed for massive publishing without using the church as a medium. This new increase in books and texts also meant the prices of such commodities went down making the Common man (working middle class) was now able to posses books. It also meant with the printing of personal bibles people were now able to interpret the words go God in their own home for the first time in history.
