1 ene 1950 año - Cotton's "share" of the U.S. textile market falls from 80% to 65%, while man-made fibers like Orlon increase their share by over 20%

Descripción:

Cotton had always been the king of the textile market (and the market in general) in previous years, but in 1950 and onwards, man-made fibers have been making a rise in the market. Cotton has its limitations, as it can only be stretched so far and it only has one feel to it, while man-made fibers can be adjusted in all sort of ways to stretch more, feel better and different, and other things that cotton couldn't and cannot do. Man-made fibers were becoming a major threat to the cotton industry like never before, especially because they could be made to suit any specific type of clothing.

Cotton is no longer economically prospering as much as it used to be, while on the other hand, man-made fibers are economically prospering more than they ever have before.
