Obama won the popular vote and the Electoral college vote.
He even won over North Carolina, Indiana, and Virginia.
Which are states that haven't voted for the Democratic candidate since the 50s
This election becomes one of the most historic elections in U. S history
Barrack Obama becomes the first African American to be elected for President
Obama also raised more money in the election than any other candidate in history.

This event is important because it shows how far as a nation we have become. Only 54 years ago is when segregation ended. Many people of the black community would have never thought to see the first African American president.
