Everyone living in the USA after the roaring twenties was affected by the great depression and people from other countries as well as Canada. The great depression was caused by the end of the rise of the new york stock exchange. People in fear of losing money started "panic selling" their stocks. Stocks of companies that had risen so much from the "roaring 20's" finally stopped rising and it caused people to become scared and want to get any profits they had made asap. Due to everyone doing this the stock market crashed, mixed with the lack of regulations lead to the prolonged suffering that these people endured.
