1 ene 1860 año - Great Shoemaker's Strike Starts
Descripción:
The Great Shoemaker's Strike begins when 3,000 shoeworkers in Lynn, Massachusetts walk off the job, in protest that they didn't get a living wage. Tens of thousands would soon join them to fight for better wages. Within a week, over 20,000 showmakers would strike and another 20,000 marched in parades. The formed the Mechanic's Association, which served as their labor union. 2 weeks in, employers raised wages by 10%, but refused to recognize the union. This effectively ended the strike, as most strikers went back to work. (Continuity: labor strikes continued to grow in size and strength as the market revolution continued)
