28 agos 1955 año - Emmett Till Murdered

Descripción:

Emmett Till, a 14 year old black boy from the North, arrived in Money, Mississippi to visit relatives. Not used to the strict racial codes in the South, he made a flirtuous remark to a white woman in a grocery store. Three days later, the woman's husband and his half brother dragged Till from his uncle's house in the middle of the night, beat him, shot him to death, and threw him into the Tallahatchie river. The two men confessed to murdering Till but were not punished by the all-white jury. The incident would infuriate blacks and black rights activists across the nation, and eventually help fuel the civil rights movement. (Continuity: racial injustice in the South infuriating blacks and civil rights activists into action)
