His 2nd voyage to the "New World" from Spain, he named the island "San Juan Bautista," in honor of Saint John the Baptist. His aim was to conquer the Taíno tribe and colonize the region. He brought European livestock (horses, sheep, and cattle) and settlers to America for the first time.
