Descripción:
The Alhambra is a palace and fortress complex located in Granada, Spain. Originally constructed as a small fortress in 889 AD on the remains of Roman fortifications. The ruins were renovated and re-built by the Nasrid emir Mohammed ben Al-Ahmar in the mid 13th century. It embodies the theme of creating a "paradise on earth". Column arcades, fountains with running water, and reflecting pools were used to add aesthetic and functional complexity. The majority of the palace buildings are quadrangular in plan, with all the rooms opening onto central courtyards.
