Descripción:
The Romantic Era opened a new realm of ideas and mindsets that valued individuality. The Romantic period concentrated on the values of nature, emotion, and independence. The concept of Romantic feminism began to grow as a new set of ideas graced the surface of British society. The movement did not provide women with equal rights or opportunities, but it set the stage for future female activists that would fight for gender equality. Women’s education did not focus on politics, philosophy, and economics because it was not deemed vital for house-wives to comprehend information outside of attracting their husband. The women’s role was to support and obey her husband. Mary Wollstonecraft’s essay, A Vindication of the Rights of Women (1792) played a significant role within building a foundation for Romantic Feminists who strived to create an equal society for women. Romantic feminist argued that gender equality is a part of individual liberty and that women have a right to be treated with equal rights.
