Horror began picking up pace again within the beginning of the 1990s, beginning with 'The Silence of the Lambs' which managed to rake in a magnificent Major Academy Award in 1992. The success of this led to large-scale funding into horror-themed projects which paid off as it influenced the world to come up with these horror movies, a main one being produced in Asia called 'Ringu'. Scream's success reignited the non-existent flame of slasher films, further pulling back the industry back into slasher films such as 'I know what you did last summer'. Blade began closing the decade with the production of comic book adaptations but the biggest releases of this decade are still to come in 1999, in which 'The Sixth Sense' and 'The Blair Witch Project'. This was a critically acclaimed film due to the marketing and development of this film which allowed for a real feel to it, allowing for the general public to genuinely have a bond with the characters as they were just like us.
