Northern European pre-Romanesque style. Churches had westworks, a west-facing entrance to a church with two towers and several stories housing a vestibule, chapel, and galleries. Examples of Carolingian architecture include the Corvey Abbey in Germany and the Palatine Chapel in Aachen.
