The steam engine was perfected by James watt in by 1765, and this had a huge impact on the early industrial area. He was able to create an engine that was effective and powerful enough to power factory equipment, which obviously was better than animals (they had to be fed, and often did not cooperate). It made prices for items go down, as well as just do the work that numerous animals would have done.
