The second student to identify themselves as Chief Illiniwek was A. Webber Borchers. He was the only Illini Chief to ride on horseback around the football field. The horse gimmick did not stick, however, future Chiefs continued performing and entertaining fans. Borchers was able to collect enough money to fund a permanent Chief Illiniwek Costume.Añadido al timeline:
