1 ene 1863 año - The Emancipation Proclamation was delivered on January 1st 1863, by Abraham Lincoln. (political)

Descripción:

Description: The Emancipation Proclamation was issued by President Abraham Lincoln on January 1, 1863, as the country entered the third year of the Civil War. It declared that "all persons held as slaves … shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free"—but it applied only to states designated as being in rebellion, not to the slaveholding border states of Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, and Missouri or to areas of the Confederacy that had already come under Union control. The careful planning of this document, with Lincoln releasing it at just the right moment in the war, ensured that it had a great positive impact on the Union efforts and redefined the purpose of the war.
Immediate Impact: It has little impact at first due to the Southern States not considering him their president and they payed no attention to it.
Long-term impact: It would allow slaves to be liberated and they would join the Union army when the Union were able to make offensive gains, it also allowed them to do away with the Fugitive Slave law.
Key people: Abe Lincoln was a key leader.
Role of each person: He made a key speech that addresses the issue and how it would be handled.
