Pocahontas, a Native American in modern-day Jamestown, Virginia, throws herself between her father, the village chief, and a white member of the Virginia Company of London, John Smith, with whom she is in love. Her father was about to kill John Smith as a symbol of the start of war between the natives and the white men, but Pocahontas convinced both sides to decide against war.
