Although her name is French for beauty, Belle shows the opposite of narcissistic values when she has much more of an interest of reading books and caring for her father than being the wife of the most sought after man in her village. She instead falls in love with a beast, named Adam, after looking past his ugly appearance and seeing the good in him. She even teaches Adam to read.
