Cable News Network (CNN), the world’s first 24-hour television news network debuts in the United States. Revolutionized news, which before had only been broadcast in scheduled, half hour broadcasts. After buying their main competitor, CNN becomes bigger and well-known for covering events around the world as they happen. Relates again to Jameson’s idea of postmodern hyperspace, as Americans no longer had to wait for scheduled news to be aware of national and later, international, new events.
