The CD was created for audio and data storage. The Phillips compact disk had a potential storage of 800mb capacity compared to 1mb on a standard floppy disk. It later surpassed prerecorded cassette tapes in the 1990’s. The compact disc allowed the confsumer to purchase any disc or player from any company, and allowed the CD to dominate the music market unchallenged.Añadido al timeline:
