General William T. Sherman led a force of 60,000 + soldiers through Georgia over the course of about one month on a campaign to cripple the economy by destroying civilian property as well as dismantling infrastructure

This campaign was incredibly successful and is considered to be one of the primary reason's behind the Confederacy's surrender
