The formation of PRI (Institutional Revolutionary Party) occurred on March 4th, 1929. The goal of the party was to make a smooth transition from the violent crisis of the Mexican Revolution to transition to a democratic government. The party formed and Calles became the first leader of the party. Mexico wished for a smooth transition to democracy and socialism, and PRI was created to do this.
