An exhibition of new industry technology in the impressive Crystal Palace. The Crystal Palace was entirely made of glass and iron, which were now inexpensive due to the steam engine and the resulting rise of industry. People from all over Europe came to see the Crystal Palace and the inventions/exhibitions inside. The Great Exhibition was organized by the government and backed by the royal family to celebrate the industrial success of Great Britain.
The Great Exhibition showed the progress of science and industry. It also served as a way for England to boast to the rest of the world about their economic success.
