Sherman's March to the Sea/ Atlanta Campaign- Sherman's troops captured Atlanta and proceeded to march to Savannah, burning houses and stealing food along the way. This campaign stole an important supply and railway hub from the Confederacy, which hastened the end of the war and helped Lincoln win his re election. He was the first practitioner of "total war".
